Welcome to “Miles of Dachshunds” where our love for these little dogs goes on for miles and miles and miles…..
Let me introduce myself, my name is Victoria Miles but my friends all call me Vickie. I don’t think I will ever grow into the name Victoria, it seems to regal to me!! My husbands name is Rodney (Rod) and we met in 1999 when introduced in a match making scheme by mutual friends. I was a single mother of three teenagers, Corey, my oldest son, Ryan, my middle son and Bethany my daughter. Added to this was a mixed breed bear of a dog named Dusty, a red dachshund named Penny and a cat named Annabelle. Rod was also a single father with two teenage sons, Justin and Brandon.
Fall of 2000 we decided to become a permanent family purchasing a home in Spring Creek, PA. Integrating Rod and his Sons into our menagerie wasn’t much of a feat, even though they didn’t have any pets of their own. So that is the beginning of our story together. In 2001 we added a male dapple dachshund named Logan who became Rod’s shadow and out side helper. When ever Rod needed a hole dug, a rabbit chased or a co-pilot in the truck, Logan was his right hand man. After that we added Lexi, our black and tan girl, next came Gretta, the long haired chocolate and tan who believes she is the queen. The list goes on and on, with each one adding their own personalities to our family. People would see us out walking the dogs and ask if we bred them. That became my passion for reading and learning all I could about these courageous, sometimes stubborn but always loving little dogs.
Now fifteen dogs and numerous litters later we are one BIG happy family! Of course our kids blame it on the empty nest syndrome but I just tell them that the dogs don’t ask for money, a car or a college education, their love is unconditional with no keys attached!!!
A few bones, maybe!!!
